Nobody – Casting Crowns

This week I heard a song and suddenly I found it reflecting my heart so much. Even though I’ve heard Nobody by Casting Crowns from Only Jesus (2018) many times, it’s only recently that I’ve committed to point to Christ.

Why You ever chose me,
Has always been a mystery,
All my life, I’ve been told I belong,
At the end of a line,
With all the other not-quites,
With all the never-get-it-rights,
But it turns out they’re the ones You were looking for all this time…

‘Cause I’m just a nobody,
Trying to tell everybody,
All about Somebody,
Who saved my soul,
Ever since You rescued me,
You gave my heart a song to sing,
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus,
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus.

I would be humble, but that came more from not wanting to be noticed or stand out. So I wouldn’t then point to Christ even though I should’ve. Even though I know what I do is good and something to be proud of, I use it as a way to point to Christ. I’ll say, “They are not my talents or words, God gave them to me and I intend to use them only to point to Christ.”

Moses had stage fright,
And David brought a rock to a sword fight,
You picked twelve outsiders nobody would’ve chosen,
And You changed the world,
Well, the moral of the story is,
Everybody’s got a purpose,
So when I hear that devil start talking to me, saying,
“Who do you think you are?” I say…

So let me go down, down, down in history,
As another blood-bought faithful member of the family,
And if they all forget my name, well, that’s fine with me,
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus.

I’m not sure whether to share this or not. But since I’ve felt it more and more I feel I should. The album that Nobody is on, Only Jesus also has this song on it called In The Hands Of The Potter, and one line in that stood out to me, And now the enemy is afraid of what You’re making me. This line gives me strength to preserve and just continue pointing to Christ despite the increasing obstacles.
