Oh Lord, You’re Beautiful by Keith Green from So You Wanna Go Back To Egypt (1980) is not the song I planned to share with you today. It is a song I’ve always wanted to share, but I didn’t think it would be in these circumstances.
I had a dream this morning, and it was crystal clear, which my dreams rarely are. In my dream the song Oh Lord, You’re Beautiful was playing, I remember that as Keith started singing I was able to work out that it was Keith Green. So I decided to share Oh Lord, You’re Beautiful today.
Oh Lord, you’re beautiful,
Your face is all I see,
For when your eyes are on this child,
Your grace abounds to me.
This song always settles me down and makes me lift my voice in worship. Being able to see the face of my first love is extraordinary, and it is a reminder of God’s never-ending grace.
I want to take your word and shine it all around,
But first help me to just, live it Lord,
And when I’m doing well, help me to never seek a crown,
For my reward is giving glory to you.
Oh Lord, please light the fire,
That once burned bright and clean,
Replace the lamp of my first love,
That burns with holy fear.
This song matches my heart, I love God’s Word, my desire is to learn from it, live it and breathe it, but I still need the Lord to light me on fire.
Lord, I pray that You breathe your Spirit on my heart, may I behold your beauty and give you all the glory.
